Metro Orlando’s apartment developers had a total of about 6,069 units underway without counting plans for thousands more proposed to break ground in the coming years. And from a report by the National Multifamily Housing Council and the National Apartment Association apartment construction totaled about $1 billion in the Orlando metro region in 2013. Central Florida reported a 95.4 percent apartment occupancy rate for March of this year versus 94.2 percent a year ago. Average monthly rents are $1,011 in the region, up from $951 in March 2014 and builders reported about 3,703 starts in the region, up from 958 a year ago.
