Retail trade up 2.2% in the first 11 months of 2023

Retail trade turnover (excluding trade in motor vehicles and motorcycles) increased by 2.2 percent in the first 11 months of 2023 compared to the same period in 2022, data published by the National Institute of Statistics (INS) show.

According to the INS, the increase in retail trade was due to advances in sales of non-food products (+4.0 percent) and sales of food, beverages and tobacco (+3.5 percent). Retail trade of motor fuels in specialised stores decreased by 3.7 percent.

Retail trade turnover in November 2023 compared to November 2022 was also up overall by 3.8 percent due to increases in sales of non-food products (+7.3 percent) and food, beverages and tobacco (+4.1 percent). Retail trade of motor fuels in specialised stores decreased by 4.7 percent.
