Rift between Prague 7 and Lordship widens

29 July 2015

The latest round of negotiations between Prague 7 and the developer Lordship have again ended without agreement, writes Echo24.cz, predicting that residents of the neighborhood will have to put up with an enormous crater above the Park Hotel on Veletrzni street for years to come. The articles claims Lordship’s plans for the project do not fulfill the conditions set on it in its rental agreement for the land, however Lordship insists that the project has to be viable for it to proceed with construction. “Agreement isn’t simple,” Lordship’s director Vaclav Matousek told Echo24. “The study Prague 7 presented to can’t be realized. If we wanted to complete the project the district is offering, it would be possible sometime after 2030. Until then there will be a crater for 15 years that will have to be guarded and maintained constantly.”

The stance of both sides does not seem to offer much hope of progress. “The possibility of agreeing isn’t gone yet definitively, but it’s difficult. We insist that the current project doesn’t fulfill the rental contract,” said Prague 7’s mayor Jan Čižinský.
