Riga to borrow €45m for Mezaparks stage renovation

2 March 2016

The Riga City Council will borrow up to €45m from the Treasury to renovate the capital’s Mezaparks open-air stage. The council will borrow up to €1.7m in 2016-2017 to develop the project’s technical plans. That loan will be repaid in three years. The interest-free, €45m loan will be paid off in 30 years. Construction is expected to break ground next year, with completion set for 2019. Built in 1955, the Mezaparks open-air stage has space for 9,000 choir singers and 22,000 spectators.
