Road tax paid by text message

20 April 2012

Romania’s Highways and National Roads Company (CNADNR) wants to spend €8.9m on a control system for road tax, which is now collected mainly through the sale of windshield stickers.
With the new system, drivers will be able to pay the road tax by text message.
With this facility, Romanian authorities expect to increase the amount raised by road tax by 25 percent.
CNADNR will organize a tender and awaits offers until May 30.
