Nearly 70 percent of the real estate transactions in Romania in 2016 were made by investors from Singapore, South Africa and the US, according to DTZ Echinox. Growthpoint and NEPI from South Africa, Lone Star and GTC from the US and GIC from Singapore were the most active investors in Romania last year. European companies like Catinvest from France and PPF Real Estate from the Czech Republic also made investments in the country last year, according to the DTZ study. The office market accounted for 44 percent of the deals followed by the retail (31 percent) and industrial (25 percent). A decade ago, the most active investors in Romania came from Austria, Germany, France and the UK.
