A total of 3,707 residential building permits were issued on the Romanian market in May, 59.5 percent of which were for rural areas, according to the National Statistics Institute.
The regional distribution shows a decrease in the number of building permits issued for residential buildings in the Northwest (-86 permits), Northeast (-72 permits), South-Muntenia (-34 permits) and West (-24 permits). Increases, meanwhile, were reported in the following development regions: Bucharest-Ilfov (+140 permits), South-West Oltenia region (+21 permits), central Romania (+19 permits) and southeast (+3 permits).
