Romania sees dip in foreign visitors

Romania saw a 2.6-percent decrease in foreign visitors in November 2012 compared with the same month the previous year, according to data released by the National Statistics Institute (INS). However, in the first 11 months of 2012, the INS reported Romania had nearly 7.429 million foreign visitors, an increase of 5.1 percent from the previous year.

INS data showed that 530,300 foreigners visited Romania in November 2012, the majority of which came from European countries. The most visitors came from Hungary (35.9 percent), followed by Bulgaria (22.9 percent), Germany (8.0 percent), Italy (7.2 percent), Austria (4.8 percent), and Poland (4.6 percent).
