Last year, electricity consumption was 55.706 billion kWh, 4.2 percent higher than in 2020, with public lighting increasing by 4.6 percent and population consumption by 6 percent, according to the National Institute of Statistics.
Electricity exports were 5.915 billion kWh in 2021, up 1106.1 million kWh. Production from thermal power plants increased by 8.8 percent, that from hydropower plants increased by 11.3 percent, and that from nuclear power plants decreased by 1.6 percent.
