25 June 2014

A group of 200 farms in southern Romania are banning together to deliver organic fruits and vegetables directly to international retailers, like Kaufland, Auchan, Cora and Selgros. The new program, called Dor de Gust, was conceived by Kanani Jabbar. The produce will be delivered from farmers in various villages including Vidra, Izbiceni and Dracea. George Vlad, president of the Vegetable Growers Association, said Dor de Gust was launched in December and deliveries will begin this month. The produce will be delivered daily or every two days, depending on the needs of the retailers. Robert Arsene, CEO of Agricover, which acts as an interface between the farmers and the retailers, said Dor de Gust is expecting its turnover will be between €10m and €12m this year.
