Romanian FinMin injects €500m into Prima Casa program

14 September 2016

The Romanian Finance Ministry will inject €500m into the country’s Prima Casa program, which helps first-time buyers purchase a home.

“We want to help Romanians who want to buy a home, and we are supplementing for a second time this year the ceiling for guarantees allocated to the Prima Casa (First Home) program,” said said Minister of Finance Anca Dragu. “The additional amount does not affect the budget deficit target. This value has been estimated based on the volume of applications in various stages of approval and pre-approval that exceeds the available existing ceiling.”

More than 21,000 First Home program guarantees were granted by the Credit Guarantee Fund for SMEs (FNGCIMM) in the first six months of this year, up 40 percent y-o-y.
