Romanian to fill vice president role at the EIB

Former Minister of Finance Mihai Tanasescu, will be named vice president of the European Investment Bank (EIB) for a term of six years, a position that Romania will hold the first time.
Tanasescu, currently Romania’s representative to the International Monetary Fund (IMF), will replace Plutarchos Sakellaris, who is Greek, to coordinate the bank’s activity in Greece, Cyprus, Denmark, Ireland, ACP states (Africa, Caribbean and Pacific) and South Africa.
The EIB has eight vice presidents. The European Investment Bank, which has 27 EU member states, also operates in Africa, Asia and Russia, covering a total of more than 150 countries.
