In September the unemployment rate in Romania stood at 7.1 percent, similar to the previous month, but down by 0.6 percent from the same period of last year, according to the National Statistics Institute (INS). Roughly 699,000 people, aged 18-74, were unemployed in September.
That was up slightly from the 692,000 unemployed in the August, while the number in September 2011 was 748,000. The unemployment rate in males stood at 7.6 percent, while in females it was 6.6 percent.
