Romanians bought fewer homes this summer, according to data from the National Agency for Cadastre and Real Estate Advertising. If last summer saw a peak, with almost 49,000 individual units traded, in the three summer months of this year fewer homes were traded, not much more than 42,000 individual units.
Last year’s enthusiasm for home buying has now been tempered by rising inflation and uncertainties about how we’ll get through the winter.
The same downward trend for the summer months is also observed in Bucharest. Thus, between June and August 2022, approximately 12,900 individual units were traded, while last year, in the same months, more than 13,700 homes were traded.
In total, at the level of the eight months, 114,157 homes were traded in 2022, with about 450 homes more than in 2021, although the difference is small.
