Romgaz, OMV, Exxon sign deal for Black Sea gas exploitation

15 February 2013

Romgaz will enter into an association with OMV and Exxon in order to exploit proven gas deposits under the Black Sea in the Midia perimeter, according to Wall Street. An agreement was signed by the companies in the presence of Prime Minister Victor Ponta, the minister of economy, Varujan Vosganian, the delegate minister for energy, Constantin Nita, and the chief of ANRM, Constantin Dutu.

OMV Petrom and ExxonMobil Exploration and Production Romania announced last February that significant natural gas deposits had been found in the Black Sea. The companies estimated they had found between 42 to 84 billion cubic meters of gas, or three to six times Romania’s annual consumption.
