RPG Byty plans €250m IPO on Amsterdam market

3 April 2014

RPG Byty, owned by Zdeněk Bakala, is planning to launch an IPO on the Amsterdam Stock Exchange. The company is one of the largest rental housing providers in the Czech Republic, with 44,000 flats worth €490m (CZK 13.5bn) in its portfolio. Its majority shareholder, the Dutch private equity firm BXR, plans to float half of the company and has already transferred RPG ownership rights and obligations to Domus, which will handle the listing. JP Morgan will run the IPO. Domus plans to list in the second quarter of 2014 and sell €250m in new and pre-existing shares. The IPO is part of a large-scale reorganization plan for BXR. Bakala, who also owns the Economia publishing house and New World Resources, which operates coal mines in the Ostrava region, is leaving BXR and plans to focus on his other activities in the Czech Republic.
