The Czech Road and Motorway Directorate (ŘSD) has officially asked the governor of the Ústecký region, Oldřich Bubeníček, to declare a state of endangerment for the section of the D8 motorway currently under construction at Litochovice that was buried in a landslide in June 2013. ŘSD claims this move will allow the Transport Ministry to grant public orders without tenders, accelerating construction of the motorway. Transport Minister Antonín Prachař argues that without this, completion of the D8 will be delayed by six to 10 months.
Bubeníček told e15 he got the geology study he wanted but has yet to ask the Interior Ministry about imposing a state of danger. He said that he would announce his decision soon.
