Russia’s largest airline has suspended ticket sales for all international flights departing before August in a reaction to the the fact that coronavirus cases continue to rise quickly in the country. According to Aeroflot’s website, there are no available flights for any international routes before August 1. The national airline said the ban on ticket sales would remain in place until there was more clarity about when Russia would lift its nationwide ban on international air travel. President Vladimir Putin promised $310 million of financial support to Russian airlines, but it’s not clear whether this will prove to be enough to save the sector. Ticket sales for air travel in and to Russia have dropped by 94 percent.
