Saar Gummi Czech is planning to build its fifth production plant near the town of Nachod to cement its position as the leading supplier of rubber sealing solutions for the European automobile sector. Speaking with Hospodářské noviny, its director Jan Tichý said the company already has its products in every fourth car produced in Europe. “Thanks to the new production lines, this should be every third car in the future.” He said that the company’s revenues rose CZK 400m in 2016 to CZK 3.9bn and that it won CZK 430m in new orders last year. Half of this was from Škoda Auto but the new production lines will also be supplying Mercedes for it’s a and B series vehicles. The company already supplies Volkswagen, Opel, Citroën, Ford, Seat, Audi, BMW, Porsche and will begin selling to Renault’s Russian operations.
Tichý told HN that the company will be investing in automation for its production lines, a move that will allow it to operate with 15 fewer workers for each line. The new plant along with equipment will cost the company roughly CZK 500m.
