Sakura nominated for “Project of the Future” in the WAN Awards, a worldwide architecture competition

22 November 2017

T.E Development Group reached the final shortlist of the prestigious architectural competition, WAN Awards 2017, in the Future Projects – Residential category with its blossoming Sakura residential complex. The first Czech project in this category, Sakura ranks among the six best buildings from four continents of the world. Residential properties from Australia, Denmark, Sweden, China and Brazil will also be evaluated in the competition. The winner will be chosen by a panel comprised of experts from all over the world. The awards ceremony will be held on 28 February 2018.

“We are very pleased that we can participate in a competition of such a stature as the WAN Awards. The panel monitored projects from all over the world, focusing not only on those with an exceptional design, but also a vision, a progressive approach and last, but not least, a benefit for its inhabitants. And it is in a symbiosis of these components that we see Sakura’s strength,” stated Martin Hubinger, a Partner of T.E Group. His words were confirmed by the main architect and Director of the Prague branch of the Jestico + Whiles studio, Sean Clifton: “Sakura stands out not only thanks to the hanging gardens full of mature greenery. Its unique nature consists primarily in its concept, focussed on a combination of singular architecture, the high quality of the materials used, well-planned layouts, the creation of a private park and additional services for residents and the surrounding community. All of these details come together to create a building that has very few peers here or abroad. This fact evidently did not go unnoticed by the panel of the WAN Awards, which is the world’s largest architectural competition. Thanks to its importance, we can already consider being nominated among the final six to be a huge success.”

The residential complex, literally enwrapped in greenery, is going up in Prague – Košíře on the site of a brownfield – a burnt-out and non-functional swimming pool. Along the circumferential walls there are several rows of ledges planted with foliage. Thanks to this, all of the balconies and terraces in the building will have cosy private gardens with a view of Prague.
