Sale and leaseback activity in CEE on the rise

3 October 2012

Sale-and-leaseback activity has accounted for 10 percent of all reported investment transactions since 2007, Colliers International reported in its most recent Eastern Europe Research Report. SLB transactions represent only 4.5 percent of historic investment turnover in the region, but the volume increased between 2007 and 2009, rising to around 13 percent of the total market activity. β€œWhile SLBs have represented only 4.5 percent of all transactions in Eastern Europe to date, current market conditions comprising a combination of restricted credit, muted economic growth and subdued debt provision provide a strong platform for Sale and Leaseback investment transactions to occur,” said Damian Harrington, Regional Director of Research for Colliers. β€œIf current market conditions persist, and we suspect they will, this could be a growing source of capital raising and investment deals over the short and medium term.”
