Sales of seized homes slowing in Portugal

The pace of sales of homes that have been seized slowed in 2015, with the tax authorities reporting that they sold 2,720 houses in 2015, 800 fewer than in the previous year. In 2014, there were nearly 10 such sales per days, so last year’s numbers represents a drop of 22.7 percent.
According to the statistics of the Finance Portal, the tax office is currently in the process of selling 1171 houses, and has already disposed of 330 this month. Along with homes, tax authorities say that the pace of sales of other assets such as cars and shares in companies is slowing.
