Samsung to build EV battery plant in Hungary

Samsung SDI is planning to build a battery plant for electric vehicles in Hungary in an investment worth KRW 400bn (roughly €325m). The plant will go up near Budapest and will have the capacity to supply cells for 50,000 electric cars per year, according to local news reports. Production is scheduled to start in 2018. Samsung operates EV battery plants in South Korea and China. The company is planning to invest KRW 1 trillion in its EV battery business this year to increase its production capacity at home and abroad.
