In connection with the receding pandemic and higher immunization of the population, companies around the world are dealing with a return to normal and after a long period of work from home, they invite their employees back to company offices. Based on the feedback from its people and positive experiences with the quality of telework performance, SAP decided to introduce flexible working conditions and allow employees to choose the place and time of work according to their individual needs.
SAP employees could use the opportunity to work occasionally from home even before the pandemic broke out. However, since March last year, the vast majority of all employees have moved to a full home office, both in the world and in the Czech Republic, where the company employs more than 2,500 people in 3 locations. Of these, with the advent of the pandemic, about 95 percent started working from home essentially overnight.
Although the epidemiological situation is now recording a return to normalcy, SAP has decided to meet the individual requirements of its people, offer them its full trust and allow them to choose a work environment. A worldwide SAP survey of employees found that they would like to maintain a flexible work model. More than 80% of workers would like to combine work from home with work from the office, most often women and recent graduates.
“The change in work regime over the past year and a quarter has affected people’s habits and preferences, which we verified in an internal survey. If their specific workload and business needs allow it, we want to meet their wishes and give them a choice. Employees will thus have everything they need to be productive, creative and efficient, and will tailor their work to their plans and personal life,” said Ladislav Kučera, SAP HR Director for the Czech Republic. The flexible model will thus become the standard and employees will be able to decide for themselves whether they want to work from home or from the offices, which will serve as a meeting place, strengthening relationships in teams and creative teamwork.
