As the main barrier to technology investments in AI, 34% of Polish managers point to the lack of appropriate employee competencies, according to the report “Digitally driven business. Development in the face of Industry 5.0′ by SAP Poland.
“The dynamic development of technology and the business landscape show that today every programmer must be an AI programmer. At the SAP TechEd conference, we announced innovations that provide developers, who are at the heart of the AI revolution, with access to the resources they need to transform the way they do business: from AI-based development tools to a single place to create AI extensions and generative applications on the SAP Business Technology Platform (BTP),” said chief technology officer and SAP SE board member Juergen Mueller.
This approach also fits perfectly with the needs of the Polish market. From the report ‘Digitally Driven Business. Development in the face of Industry 5.0’ shows that 34% of Polish managers point to the lack of appropriate employee competences as the main barrier to technological investment in AI. SAP’s latest solutions bring this deficit closer to being redressed, the report stated.
The report’s creators emphasise that the strategic role of AI is growing, as is the investment in it.
42% of the companies surveyed say they are using AI not only for mechanical tasks, but also for strategic decision-making. Of the five key reasons for investing in AI, four are related to cost and process optimisation and one to a modern customer offering, the report stated.
Furthermore, according to 54% of managers, their teams are concerned about the impact of AI on the workplace. At the same time, people and their skills are an oft-emphasised condition for the success of digitalisation.
According to 60% of those surveyed, deeper digitisation of the supply chain in their organisation would require an increase in the digital competencies of employees. Awareness of the long-term goals of IT investments. 61% of the managers surveyed believe that the cost of implementation is important, but the long-term return on investment remains key. At the same time, 56% emphasise that the choice of the technology to be implemented should not be determined by price, but by the effectiveness of the implemented solution, listed in the report.
The report ‘Digitally Driven Business. Development in the face of Industry 5.0’ is based on a survey of almost half a thousand Polish managers involved in IT budgeting processes at companies in key industries.
