Flad Architects and Gilbane Building Co. have both won a tender to build a $225 million 65-acre hospital campus in Venice. Selected by the Sarasota County Public Hospital Board, the duo will construct a 315,000 square foot facility with 90 acute care beds, a 20-bed observation unit along with a 25 room emergency care center. Flad and Gilbane will work with the hospital along with Hammes Co. to begin creating a master plan for the site. The project is waiting on Florida’s final order on its Certificate-of-Need application. “We evaluated proposals from more than a dozen highly qualified firms and believe we have assembled the best team for this project,” said Sarasota Memorial Hospital CEO David Verinder
