Sarasota home prices outpacing national average

9 December 2016

According to a new report from CoreLogic, home prices in the greater Sarasota area were up 7.9 percent year-on-year for the month of October. The results includes the sale of distressed properties. Statewide, home prices rose 7.8 percent in October on a y-o-y basis, while nationally, home prices saw just 6.7 percent growth. Only six states out-performed Florida for the month of October: Colorado, Idaho, New York, Oregon, Utah and Washington. “Only nine states had home price growth at the same rate of growth or higher than the national average because the largest states, such as Texas, Florida and California, are experiencing high rates of home price appreciation,” says Frank Nothaft, CoreLogic’s chief economist.
