Sberbank withdrawing from Slovakia

16 March 2017

Sberbank is leaving Slovakia. Prima banka will take over Sberbank Slovensko by the end of July, according to Jan Rollo, general director of Prima banka. Penta Investments, the majority shareholder of Prima banka, acquired a 99.5-percent stake in Sberbank Slovensko in mid-2016, but the transaction has still not been approved by the European Central Bank and the Slovak Antimonopoly Office. Following the takeover, Prima banka will be the third leading lender on the Slovak banking market. Rollo said the bank will continue to expand into the regions.
