British-based Segro is in negotiations to acquire eight logistics centers in Madrid and Barcelona. Although the deal is still in discussions, it’s already been approved by the competent competition regulators. Segro’s plan is to invest €600 million over the next five years. In addition, it plans to deliver more than 180,000 square meters in other projects in which it is already working in Getafe (Los Gavilanes Industrial Estate) and in Barcelona, in the Segro Logistics Park Rubi.
These are eight facilities located between San Fernando, Villaverde, Paracuellos (Madrid) and Terrasa, Palau, Viladecans, Cerdanyola and Polinya (Barcelona). The purchase will be carried out through SEPL, created in partnership with the Canadian pension fund PSP in 2013 to create a logistics platform focused on France, Germany, Poland, the Czech Republic, Belgium and the Netherlands. Eventually, Spain and Italy were added to the list. The portfolio had grown to a value of €4.5 billion as of the end of 2019.
