Serbia’s government has held the first meeting of a working group that will promote the establishment of Chemical Park Prahovo, whose first phase is being planned on 115 ha of land in eastern Serbia. With nothing similar anywhere in the region, and strong rail and waterway accessibility, the government expects to attract up to 30 foreign investors for the zone from the EU, China, and India.
Initial feasibility studies predict the chemical park could employ up to 2,000 people and that it would create work indirectly for another 2,000. Eastern Serbia is less industrially developed than other parts of the country and the government is keen to promote it in order to create new jobs.
