Serbia rolls out green corridor system to speed trade

15 April 2020

Serbia has introduced a new network of “green” corridors leading between border crossings to speed up the movement of goods being traded within the CEFTA region. The country’s Chamber of Commerce announced that the special corridors had been necessary to counteract shipping delays caused by numerous new security-minded procedures and conditions being set by countries in the region. Under the special regime, customs and other procedures carried out at the borders will be accelerated. The Serbian border crossings currently approved for the green corridor system are at Sremska Raca, Presevo, Gostun and Merdare. They will be open non-stop for truckers with all types of goods, but those carrying goods of a humanitarian nature will be given priority through a system of advance notice. These include medicines, medical and protective equipment and human and animal nutrition products.
