Serbia’s real estate market turnover decreased by 70 percent following the imposition of a state of emergency, according to data from the the Geodetic Authority, while prices remain largely unchanged.
A survey by the Serbian Chamber of Commerce found that 74 percent of all agencies have made no turnover since the emergency was declared, and yet 47 percent of those surveyed were optimistic about it ending, with most stating that the most important step by the government was its deferral of payroll contributions and subsidies to the private sector. Around 27 percent of those polled expected no improvement once the state of emergency is lifted while another 25 percent had no opinion on the matter. Roughly 46 percent said they were optimistic of an improving situation going forward.
