Zorana Mihajlovic, Serbia’s Minister of Construction, took part in the beginning of construction of a water plant in Smederevo. The plant will supply clean drinking water to 25,000 citizens and should be completed by November 2016.
The investment is worth around €3.2m, 60 percent of which is being financed through a loan from KfW, the German development bank. The remainder comes through a donation made by the German government.
“We have joined efforts with the German Development Bank in an innovative approach that we have here – we launched a competition between local governments and cities,” said Germany’s ambassador to Serbia, Axel Dittmann.
