Serbia’s budget deficit rose to RSD 46.9bn in the first quarter of 2020, the Ministry of Finance announced, with RSD 46.3bn of it created in the month of March alone. The government brought in RSD 81.4bn in tax revenues in March, primarily through the collection VAT payments (RSD 44.8bn) along with RSD 18.3bn from excise tax. Non-tax revenues for March amounted to RSD 10bn. The government shelled out RSD 137.9bn in the month, RSD 256.bn of which went to employees with an additional RSD 12.8bn paid to cover interest payments. The agricultural sector received RSD 15.4bn.
