Serbian to speed up road transit of goods

3 April 2020

The Serbian government has abolished the practice of escorting trucks in transit through Serbia as of today to enable faster transport of goods to their final customers. In announcing the move, Minister of Construction, Transport and Infrastructure Zorana Mihajlovic said this was in line with rulings by the European Commission on facilitating
the transport of cargo. These call for the stopping of vehicles along transit corridors to be kept to a minimum as well as the greatest possible use of electronic documents to reduce the number of people drivers come into contact with. She said her ministry had defined which routes are to be used by transit trucks, and that it had worked together with the Ministry of Mining and Energy to select nine filling stations for them to use.
