Poland’s Chief National Geologist was not mistaken when he announced last week that shale gas deposits across Poland wouldn’t turn out to be as plentiful as previously believed. The Polish Geological Institute (PIG) has officially confirmed the information releasing a statement that says Poland is sitting on top of ten time less in shale gas deposits than had been previously estimated. The most optimistic scenario assumes that estimates a range of between 346 to 768 billions cubic meters, the majority of which is located in the Baltic Sea region. That’s a pretty serious comedown from the 5.3 trillion cubic meters figure that was being touted previously. Ten times less, in fact.
