22 July 2020

Sheremetyevo Airport has postponed the construction and renovation of two new terminals until the next decade due to the coronavirus pandemic. The more-than $400 million investment in Terminal C2 was expected to increase the Moscow airport’s capacity by 20 million passengers annually to 100 million. Initially scheduled for completion in 2026, the work has been pushed back to 2030 at the earliest. Also, the $120 million renovation of Terminal F, previously planned to follow immediately after the completion of Terminal C2, was also postponed until 2031. Sheremetyevo handled 49.9 million passengers last year and in the first five months of 2020, passenger traffic fell to jus to 9.15 million.
