Shopping centers reopen in Serbia, with increased restriction

8 May 2020

Shopping malls in Serbia have been cleared to open today, but they’re doing so with numerous restrictions still in place. These include maintaining physical distance between individuals, increased disinfectant procedures and the turning off of air conditioning which authorities claim increases the risk of virus transmission. The number of people allowed in shopping centers will be limited and it will be up to security staff to enforce these policies.

Other changes that take effect today include the return of traditional opening times for all grocery stores. Most Lidl stores in Serbia will return to working hours from 8 am to 10 pm, while some stores in Belgrade and Subotica will open their doors 7 am. Beginning tomorrow, most Maxi, Shop & Go and Tempo stores will also return to regular business hours.
