Malls and retailers are opening new sites in Romania, targeting areas in cities with higher purchasing power. Bucharest, Ploiesti, Brasov and Constanta are just some of the cities that expect medium or larger shopping centers to be built over the next 12 – 18 months.
The web site Finantistii reports that former factories are increasingly being considered as attractive locations for such developments. And with many finally passing into private hands, or being dismantled or deemed unsuitable in cities because of the pollution they create, the time for their re-development appears to be arriving.
