Sichuan Airlines is the latest Chinese air carrier planning direct flights from China to Prague. Sichuan Airlines intends to establish a connection from Cheng-du, the fifth largest city in China. Until regular service is set up, the company will run four charter flights beginning by early March.
Hainan Airlines began flights from Beijing to Prague last year, followed by the announcement of another flight from Shanghai to Prague by China Eastern, though this isnβt running yet. Passenger numbers on the flights between Czech Republic and China are on the rise, up by 46 percent y-o-y in 2015 to 50,000. Shanghai-Prague flights transported 22,300 passengers, up 37 percent y-o-y, with 18,800 passengers traveling on the Beijing-Prague line (+45 percent y-o-y).
