Silvana Jirotková has been named the new director of the state investment agency CzechInvest in a promotion from her current role as director of internal projects. The Minister of Industry and Trade Tomáš Huner signed the documents placing her in charge of the agency on Thursday. “It’s been a long time since CzechInvest had a boss that was chosen through an open tender,” he said. “Now she will have to convince me about her vision in practice. She’s got a lot of work to do. CzechInvest has to change radically to make its operations more effective.” Huner fired Jirotková’s predecessor Karel Kučera in January for allegedly destabilizing the agency. Just four of the original 23 candidates progressed to the final round of the tender for the post of director.
