Skanska has begun construction on Nordic Light, its seventh office project in Budapest. Located on the inner Váci road, the first phase of construction, 6,600 sqm of the total, is due for completion in 2016. In all, the project calls for the creation of 26,200 sqm of leasable office space. The remainder will be built in the second phase of construction. Three levels of underground parking will be built with 404 parking spaces, while bike racks, showers and changing rooms will naturally be built as well. The project is LEED pre-certified with a gold rating. Among the green components of the project are solar collectors for hot water production along with the use of rain water for flushing. Skanska will prioritize the use of recycled materials when possible along with locally sourced building components.
