Demolition of the the Michle bakery in Prague 4 has gotten underway to make room for a new residential and retail complex by Skanska Reality. The developer bought the three hectare site five years ago with the idea of building a combination of flats, shops and services. In all, writes the daily Dennik, a total of 500 flats will be added to the area. “We’re working with the Jestico + Whiles studio on the architectural study at the moment and at the same time we’ll be applying for a change to the master plan,” said the developer’s spokeswoman Barbora Lindauer. The daily notes that the area has become a favorite of developers as Metrostav Development is close completing its project Rezidenci Hadovitá just a few hundred meters away and names additional projects in the vicinity.
