Skanska has signed a contract with the Czech railway authority, Správa železniční dopravní cesty (SŽDC), to modernize the Česká Lípa railway station in North Bohemia. Redevelopment costs are expected to reach CZK 1bn, and Skanska expects to complete the project in one and half years. The renovation, to be co-financed by the EU, will allow trains to increase their speed to 120 km/hour. The Česká Lípa railway station, an important transport hub in the Liberec region, has been divided into two sections. Skanska plans to connect both sections and shift the whole station 250 meters closer to the city center.
