Work has gotten underway in central Montenegro on Bjelasica mountain, a ski complex on Cmiljaca mountain set to open for the 2020/2021 season. The €23m project is expected to have a major impact on the local economy by creating numerous jobs and secondary tourism-based businesses. The cable car manufacturer Leitner and its local partner New Volvox have finished installing the lift’s support towers as well as the on and off stations. The 1.4 kilometer lift capacity has a designed capacity of 2,600 skiers per hour. The Montenegren government is supporting infrastructure work, including a €1.8m grant for the construction of a 35/10 kV substation.
