Automobile sales in the Czech Republic fell 30 percent for the five months of the year to 74,258 cars. In May alone, the drop from a year before was 54 percent, with Škoda selling the most vehicles (28,095) to command 37.8 percent of the market. It was followed by Hyundai, which sold 6,552 and by Volkswagen’s 6,303 sales. Škoda’s most popular car continues to be the Octavia followed by the Fabia, as they sold 8,094 and 6,956 respectively. The next highest selling model was Hyundai’s Tuscon, which was bought by 1,702 customers. As part of its efforts to ensure employee safety and reassure them of their health status, Škoda employees have all been offered free testing for Covid-19 antibodies. As of the end of May, more than 1,000 had undergone the test.
