Slovak construction down 6% in January

Construction production in the Eurozone strengthened in January by 3.6 percent compared to December 2015, although it recorded a 6 percent jump y-o-y. The EU as a whole reports an increase of 4.4 percent in construction production, according to the data published by Eurostat. In Slovakia, construction industry lagged considerably behind the EU average, having dropped by 6.2 percent m-o-m in January. Of all the EU countries, it was the third worst result, with Hungary reporting a decrease of 13 percent and Romania down by 6.4 percent. France topped the rank with an increase of 7.3 percent, followed by Germany with 7 percent and Spain with 2.6 percent.
