Residential investment volumes increased in Slovakia in the first half of 2014 compared to the same period last year, according to data published by the Statistical Office SR. The number of completed apartments increased by 3.2 percent to 6,470 units y-o-y. The second quarter was more active, with completions up 10 percent. Private developers were behind the majority of new additions, while the public sector delivered just 277 units in the first half of the year, down from 460 units in H1 2013.
The number of construction starts, meanwhile, increased by 5.5 percent to 7,876 units. Public investors started only 192 flats, 50 percent down from last year. Starts by private developers increased by 8 percent.
