There are indications that residential prices aren’t rising as quickly now in Slovakia as they once did. A survey by the residential specialists website nehuntelnosti.sk found that the trend was clearest in the 2-bedroom segment where prices fell slightly in some areas of Kosice as well as in Trnava and Nitra. Prices were down slightly in Presov and in some parts of Bratislava, but otherwise it wasn’t a common occurrence in the capital. “Except for the most most expensive parts (Bratislava I) prices rose for larger flats the most dramatically in Bratislava III (by 10 percent) and in Presov (by 9.6 percent),” wrote the website’s analysts. The pandemic appears to have influenced the recreational sector, with prices rising 15.6 percent in the second quarter year-on-year and by nearly 6 percent compared to the first quarter. However, demand for cottages began to fall in September at the end of the holiday season. However, with a second wave of the pandemic now underway and the arrival of the skiing season, prices are expected to begin rising again.
