Slovakia is in the final round of a tender for yet another automobile manufacturer. It’s not known which company is planning the construction of a new plant (the current betting is on BMW) but it is known that the location would be near Košice. Slovak officials sound as surprised at being in the final as is everyone else who knows how hard it already is to find workers for the existing factories. “So far, no final decision has been made about the location of the new factory. BMW Group regularly evaluates various locations as part of its long-term planning,” said BMW’s spokesman, Milan Stupka. Slovakia and Romania are in the final of a tender for the Chinese electric automobile manufacturer ZhiDou.
